Main duties of the job
The Service User and Carer Involvement Co-ordinator will lead on a specified engagement portfolio within the Directorate which covers the specialisms of; mental health and older adults, neuropsychiatry, eating disorders, affective disorders, psychosis, perinatal mental health and neurodevelopmental services.
This is a patient and public facing role which will require the post holder to co-locate with our teams and spend time in our local communities to support the expansion of our involvement work.

About the location:
This role includes travelling between Directorate Services in Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham, Croydon, Bexley & Bromley.
Preference for work base will be discussed at interview but there is an expectation that you will travel between Trust and Non-Trust sites.

Essential criteria
- A relevant degree or equivalent qualification in a healthcare, social care, or community engagement field (or significant equivalent experience)
- Evidence of ongoing continued professional development in relevant area
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of further training relevant to recovery and engagement role.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in multicultural environments with diverse populations of people
- Experience of working with people with a broad range and severity of different mental health conditions
- Experience of facilitating groups, co-producing and presenting information in a variety of settings including developing and presenting training programmes and co-facilitating groups with service users and staff
- Experience of working directly with service users and their support networks to support co-production in a health / public or voluntary sector setting
- Experience of partnership working across statutory and voluntary organisations
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working with a range of providers, supporting them to involve users of their services
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Knowledge and understanding of the concepts of mental health, wellbeing and recovery
- Understanding of issues of consent, capacity and confidentiality
- Understanding of the 4Pi National Involvement Standards Framework and able to evidence examples of implementing these standards in practice
- Understanding of the Patient and Carer Race and Equality Framework and able to evidence examples of implementing these standards in practice
- Understanding of the Triangle of Care Model and its principles and able to evidence examples of implementing these standards in practice
Skills and Abilities
Essential criteria
- Experience of using a variety of MS Office programmes e.g. Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, PowerPoint, Teams
- Skills in understanding the dynamics of a team and have the ability to work effectively within team structures
- Ability to manage own workload and work autonomously
- Ability to reflect and critically appraise own performance
- Ability to build and manage relationships with teams, managers and senior leaders, as well as a range of external stakeholders
- Experience of managing volunteers at all stages of their involvement with a project
- Ability to support staff at all levels to work alongside service users and carers to progress the involvement agenda
- Ability to positively risk take and, with support, to challenge the status quo at all levels
- Effective communication and presentation skills with the ability to adapt to differing needs
- Ability to develop close working relationships between individuals, teams and organisations in particular with service users and carers
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- Ability to collect, analyse and interpret qualitative and quantitative sources of data and present it clearly to a wide stakeholder audience
Desirable criteria
- Sound technical and creative skills in the use of video, social media or other mediums to promote inclusion and engagement activities
- Experience of developing website content
