Job overview
Are you an Occupational Therapist at B6 level, or an experienced B5 OT looking for a rewarding new professional opportunity? Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be committed to using a strengths-based model, and a whole systems approach to recovery from mental illness, working with service users in a variety of community-based settings. In this role, the OT can develop intervention skills, working with a wide range of assessment tools, and will be supported to build knowledge of these through training and peer working.
Working for our organisation
The successful OT applicant will be anchored by a supportive network of community and inpatient OTs, have access to peer working sessions OTs from Adult Social Care; and will be encouraged to seek out opportunities to enrich their continued professional development across all areas of their practice. Through co-production and client-led interventions, the post holder will enable individuals to access community services that provide leisure activities, academic and vocational courses, and volunteering opportunities; supporting them to harness more meaning and purpose in their daily living.
Occupational therapy provision is established within the team. The post holder will receive line management supervision from the team manager and profession specific supervision from the Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist for community services.
The team is based in Camberwell and has good transport links (close to Denmark Hill Station with and multiple bus stops)

Essential criteria
- Registered Occupational Therapist
- Post-graduate training relevant to Mental Health
Desirable criteria
- Post-graduate training
- Member of OT professional body and/or interest group
Experience
Essential criteria
- Post registration experience as an OT working in Mental Health
- Working in groups / Extensive clinical experience including individual and group work
- Advising and supporting junior staff / Experience of supervising junior staff and students
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge and / or experience of working as a Care Co-ordinator
- Experience of placing, reviewing and working with people who live in a residential, supported accommodation or nursing care setting
- Practice Placement Educators course
Knowledge & skills
Essential criteria
- Understanding of Mental Health disorders and treatment models
- Knowledge of legislation relevant to Mental Health
- Knowledge of recovery model and other theoretical models in mental health rehabilitation and continuing care
- Knowledge of the principles of CPA (Care Programme Approach)
Desirable criteria
- Training and facilitation skills
