Job overview

We are looking to recruit a  Maintenance  Electrician to work as a member of a multi-tasking maintenance team providing professional and technical expertise within an effective and efficient customer focused maintenance service to provide a fit for purpose estate and environment to all Trust owned, leased or rented properties.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is also accountable within the facilities Department to ensure adequate processes and procedures exist for the improvement, promotion and delivery of safe, quality and value for money services. This responsibility extends to contributing to all necessary auditing procedures and ensuring the Maintenance Department promotes itself through effective communication to all customers.

Initially based at Springfield Hospital and will be required to be based or work in any property owned, leased or rented by the Trust.

This is an exciting time to join the trust as we are starting a completely new hospital on both major sites in the next three years so it will be a leading mental health hospital

Please note you will be part of a on call system and a driving license is required

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • To carry out all work in a safe and efficient manner and bring to the attention of the Supervisors and management any known defect requiring further attention.
  • To liaise with contractors in regards to minor project work.
  • To attend a process of effective communication/team briefing, with supervisors under sphere of responsibility.
  • To communicate with all disciplines in an effective manner using tact and diplomacy in often difficult situations ensuring confidentiality is maintained when appropriate.
  • To communicate with supervisors to ensure that stores and equipment are kept at the correct levels to provide a quick efficient service.
  • To communicate with ward managers, ward staff and customers any delays in maintenance requests as required to provide a customer focused service.
  • To promote the delivery of safe, quality, value for money Maintenance Services across the Trust.
  • To comply with statutory and mandatory requirements relating to Maintenance services and procedures.

Person specification

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • City and Guilds electrical17th edition IEE regulations
  • NVQ level 3
  • Electrical Apprenticeship
Desirable criteria
  • 2391 inspection & Testing

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Time served tradesperson and demonstrable post apprentice experience as Electrician
  • Demonstrable experience and knowledge of identifying fault/flaws from complex electrical drawings
  • Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS)
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working within a multi disciplinary Estates & Facilities team
  • Experience of working within a mental health care setting

Knowledge & Skills

Essential criteria
  • Basic Numerate and literacy skills (level 1)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic IT skills
  • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise own workload
  • Effective customer service skills
