Main duties of the job

  • Are you looking for a challenge and excited about working in a fast-paced, innovative environment?
  • We are seeking enthusiastic nurses at Band 5 to join our Children and Young Persons Emergency Department team. 
  • We see a wide variety of patients, from those with primary care issues in our Urgent Care Centre, to trauma patients seen in the designated Major Trauma Centre for southwest London. 
  • This is an excellent opportunity to expand your skills and be part of an evolving and developing service.  
  • The Emergency Department is a friendly, dynamic work place that prides itself on the health and well being of it's staff and team work approach to all situations.

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse: Paediatric with post registration experience or Adult trained with extensive experience in a paediatric acute care setting
Desirable criteria
  • 6 month post registration
  • Completion of preceptorship programme
  • Venepuncture
  • IV drug Administration

Organisational Management

Essential criteria
  • • Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care according to individual needs.
  • • Ability to effectively prioritise workload and patient care needs.
  • • Demonstrates an understanding of managing resources.
  • • Demonstrates an understanding of clinical risk
Desirable criteria
  • • Has worked in an acute environment
  • • Computer literate

Education & Research

Essential criteria
  • • Demonstrates an understanding of the importance of research and evidence based practice.
  • • Able to explain the principles of mentoring and assessing junior staff.
  • • Understands the importance of developing self and others.
Desirable criteria
  • • Demonstrates an understanding of audit
  • • Ability to take on small research or audit project.
