Main duties of the job
- Are you looking for a challenge and excited about working in a fast-paced, innovative environment?
- We are seeking enthusiastic nurses at Band 5 to join our Children and Young Persons Emergency Department team.
- We see a wide variety of patients, from those with primary care issues in our Urgent Care Centre, to trauma patients seen in the designated Major Trauma Centre for southwest London.
- This is an excellent opportunity to expand your skills and be part of an evolving and developing service.
- The Emergency Department is a friendly, dynamic work place that prides itself on the health and well being of it's staff and team work approach to all situations.

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse: Paediatric with post registration experience or Adult trained with extensive experience in a paediatric acute care setting
Desirable criteria
- 6 month post registration
- Completion of preceptorship programme
- Venepuncture
- IV drug Administration
Organisational Management
Essential criteria
- • Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care according to individual needs.
- • Ability to effectively prioritise workload and patient care needs.
- • Demonstrates an understanding of managing resources.
- • Demonstrates an understanding of clinical risk
Desirable criteria
- • Has worked in an acute environment
- • Computer literate
Education & Research
Essential criteria
- • Demonstrates an understanding of the importance of research and evidence based practice.
- • Able to explain the principles of mentoring and assessing junior staff.
- • Understands the importance of developing self and others.
Desirable criteria
- • Demonstrates an understanding of audit
- • Ability to take on small research or audit project.
