Main duties of the job

The Auditory Implant Service (AIS) comprises of the Paediatric and Adult Cochlear Implant Programmes, and the Bone Conduction Hearing Implants (BCHI) and Middle Ear Implants (MEI) programmes for adults. The post-holder is expected to work closely within the AIS team consisting of ENT surgeons, Audiovestibular Physician, Implant audiologists, speech and language therapists, and teachers of the Hearing Impaired.

The Auditory Implant service sits within the Department of ENT, Audiology and Audiovestibular Medicine at St. George's Hospital. The department provides a specialist and supra-specialist diagnostic and rehabilitative audio-vestibular and ENT service to people of all ages. The AIS works closely with other sections of the department and hence has extensive access to specialised services in vestibular testing, rehabilitation, tinnitus and hearing therapy. The AIS is the youngest implant programme in the UK and  we have seen significant growth in our patient population in recent years. The AIS service is the main tertiary implant provider across South and South West London, and we celebrate our special connections with many South London Trusts, Audiology departments and other education and sensory provisions.
