Job overview

We are looking to recruit a Band 7 Highly Specialist Physiotherapist with experience of working with people living with chronic to join the Chronic Pain Self Management Team, St George’s Hospital.

 

The Chronic Pain Self Management Team (CPSMT) is a well established and experienced multi disciplinary team offering highly specialist assessments and interventions for people living with complex chronic pain presentations.  We aim to support people referred to our service to develop a range of self management skills to allow them to improve their overall quality of life despite pain.  Interventions are focussed on improving understanding of chronic pain, increasing function and engagement in valued activities, managing pain related distress and reducing inappropriate health case. 

Main duties of the job

We are looking to recruit a Band 7 Highly Specialist Physiotherapist with experience of working with people living with chronic to join the Chronic Pain Self Management Team, St George’s Hospital.  

The post is supported via regular supervision from a senior physiotherapist working within the team, as well as an established team meeting structure including monthly CPD sessions, team handover meetings and case discussions.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This post would suit a physiotherapist who is looking to further develop their skills in chronic pain / long term condition management including   –

  • Delivering self management interventions for people with complex chronic pain presentations in groups and with individuals
  • Using psychologically informed approaches in direct clinical work and case consultation
  • Developing and maintaining links with a range of services at St George’s Hospital and in the community in order to improve care pathways.
  • Teaching and training other health professionals

  • Degree or equivalent in physiotherapy

  • At least 1 year’s experience of working in the NHS

  • Minimum 4 years post registration experience of which 2 years are out-patient musculoskeletal physiotherapy at Band 6 level to include Consultant referrals , GP referrals, Rheumatology, Orthopaedic In-patients, Chronic Pain Management
