An exciting opportunity has arisen for a hard working and committed individual with proven leadership and management experience to join our team. This role offers an opportunity to be responsible for Theatres, Anaesthetics, Pre assessment, Decontamination and Resus.
Main duties of the job
The Deputy General Manager is a key position within the Directorate's management & leadership structure. Reporting to the General Manager, the Deputy General Manager will be responsible for operational and performance management for the Directorate. Working closely with a team of Service Managers and Care Group Leads, this role will require effective multi-tasking, proactive stakeholder engagement and developing strategic approaches to complex issues.
The post holder will co-ordinate the operational delivery of all responsible services and ensure the safe and effective use of all resources. Specifically, to take a lead in achieving key performance targets in line with local and national agreements across elective and cancer access. Also promoting surgical productivity & efficiency, the delivery of activity plans and development & implementation of recovery plans where required. Additionally the post-holder will support financial management within services and ensure delivery of cost-improvement schemes. The post holder will also ensure proactive staff-management across the directorate, ranging from appraisal compliance to sickness reporting & management.
The successful post-holder will be expected to deputise for the General Manager where required.

- Degree or equivalent professional qualification
- Post graduate management qualification or equivalent knowledge gained through experience
- Evidence of continuing professional development

Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience managing staff and non-pay budgets within an NHS provider organisation.
- Extensive line management experience
- Experience of managing waiting lists, theatre scheduling and outpatient 18-week demand and capacity plans.
Desirable criteria
- Experience implementing complex recovery plans within a service / organisation
- Experience of working in networks with commissioners and other provider organisations
