Job overview

Main duties of the job

  • We are looking for a band 6 nurse to join a team of mixed skill nurses to support children and young people in a school for CYP aged between 4-19 years old.
  • You will have good clinical skills as well as be willing to learn new skills. You will plan your workload and pre-empt the needs of the children on your caseload. 
  • You will be giving tracheostomy care, feeds via jejunostomy, gastrostomy, safe administering of medication, airway maintenance using suctioning etc.
  • You will be delivering care for the CYP while they are in their lessons and ensuring their education is as uninterrupted as possible. 
  • You should work well within a team.
  • Your must have good safeguarding awareness.

  • national child protection and safeguarding preceedures

  • level 3 mandatory child protection training within the last 3 years

Experience

  • NMC registered nurse
  • minimum 2 years post registered experience
  • experience of working with children and young people
Desirable criteria
  • RCN or RN with minimum 2 yrs working with children and young people

  • excellent verbal and written communication

  • Diabetes care and management
  • Epilepsy awareness
