Job overview

A fantastic opportunity to join our multi disciplinary team providing the assessments for autism in young children.  You will already be trained and experienced in delivering the ADOS and proficient in providing feedback to parents in a way that is accessible to all.  In addition you will be based at a preschool resource base two days a week providing intervention for two classes of young children (preschool and reception)

Main duties of the job

  • Specialist assessment, management and treatment of children with suspected Autism in young children
  • Ensuring high quality provision for any children under their care and have a high level of skills around ASD
  • Line management and clinical supervision of SLT students and junior
  • To provide training and advice to parents and professionals regarding the importance of speech and language development and ways to support speech and language development and Autistic children.
  •                To be competent and experienced in delivering assessment results to parents and carers

Education/Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent
  • Health Professions Council – Licence to Practice
  • ADOS certified
Desirable criteria
  • Registered Member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapist

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Relevant experience at undergraduate/post graduate level
  • Post qualification experience working with paediatric client group
  • Experience in autism assessment, treatment and management
  • Assessment, treatment and management of other complex children with speech, language and communication difficulties
  • Training and experience in working with a diverse range of parents and carers
  • Developing and delivering education and training packages.
  • Experience of being involved in Clinical audit
Desirable criteria
  • Named training packages delivered

  • In-depth knowledge of national policies and procedures (relevant to the specialist client group) such as NICE, Cancer Plan, Disability Discrimination Act
  • n depth knowledge of a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions (relevant to the client group) and an ability to compare and contrast relative benefits
  • In depth knowledge of the principles of clinical governance
  • Understanding of the roles of other professionals (relevant to the client group)
