Associate Director of Transformation

Band 8d

Job overview

The Associate Director of Group Transformation plays a pivotal leadership role within the organisation, responsible for shaping and delivering the Group’s transformation agenda.

Working very closely with site transformation programme leads, the postholder will lead gesh-wide transformation programmes aligned to Group strategic objectives, ensuring robust delivery across clinical and corporate services. The key focus of the role will be on initiatives that require a Group-wide approach for delivery or enablement.

Working across St George's, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group (gesh), the role requires excellent leadership, stakeholder engagement and programme management capabilities, with a strong emphasis on enabling change across complex systems.

The role will also support the development of an aligned Group-wide transformation plan and ensure effective integration with annual planning cycles.

Main duties of the job

Transformation Programme Leadership: Lead the design and delivery of transformation programmes aligned with strategic objectives across the organisation.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support change initiatives.

Leadership and Team Development: Provide strategic leadership and direction to the transformation team, supporting development and performance.

Governance and Delivery Assurance: Oversee programme governance, ensuring delivery against agreed milestones, financial controls, and risk management.

Values and Continuous Improvement: Promote organisational values and embed a culture of continuous improvement throughout the transformation function.

Working for our organisation

St George’s, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group (gesh) cares for a population of four million people in South West London and North East Surrey. Our sites include St George’s Hospital, one of 11 major trauma centres in the UK and the largest healthcare provider and major teaching hospital in the area; St Helier Hospital, home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary's Hospital for Children; and Epsom Hospital, home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC).

After years of collaboration, our two Trusts became a hospitals group in 2021. While remaining as two separate Trusts, being a hospitals group will help us to collaborate more closely on research, and the development, education, and training of our 17,000-strong workforce.
