Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed child and adolescent Psychiatrist. Experience of working in specialist disability CAMHS team is an essential requirement. The ideal candidate will have sound risk assessment and management skills, good interpersonal skills and will thrive within a busy multi-disciplinary team environment, and enjoy short term work, assessments and consulting to a wide range of colleagues, flexibly across the different teams under the Integrated Children’s service umbrella. The post is currently split between two of these teams, Mosaic CAMHS and SCAS (Social Communication Assessment Service) diagnostic assessment and post diagnostic clinical support to children and young people with ASC and/or Intellectual disabilities.

Main duties of the job

This 0.9 WTE post is based in Mosaic CAMHS. This is a comprehensive service which functions as part of an integrated service for children with disabilities in Camden partnership with Central and North West London (CNWL) NHS Foundation Trust, Royal Free London Foundation NHS Trust, Whittington Health NHS Trust and Camden Local Authority it offers an ideal service to work as a key member of a multiagency service offering assessment, intervention and consultation to children and families with a range of disabilities and to work with networks supporting these children.

Essential criteria
  • Excellent knowledge in child and adolescent psychiatry or psychiatrist in medical psychotherapy.
  • Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
  • Experience in the psychiatric assessment and treatment of children and young people with Neurodevelopmental conditions including ADHD and ASC.
  • Makes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others.
  • Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA
  • Able to deliver postgraduate teaching and training
  • Ability to work in and provide clinical leadership Demonstrate commitment to shared leadership & collaborative working to deliver improvement. Reflected on purpose of CPD undertaken Participated in continuous professional development Participated in research or service evaluation. Experienced in clinical research and / or service evaluation. Able to use and appraise clinical evidence. Evidence of achievement in education, research, audit and service improvement: awards, prizes, presentations and publications. Has actively participated in clinical audit and quality improvement programs Has led clinical audits leading to service change or improved outcomes to patients
Desirable criteria
  • MRCPsych Eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of getting CCT Wide range of specialist and sub- specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service.
  • Wide experience and skill of therapeutic work with children and young people and their families.
  • Evidence of working flexibly with team members and with young people providing appointments in a range of community settings.
