Job overview

We are seeking a Locum Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our South Camden Community CAMHS team for 12 months.

The South Camden Open Minded - Community CAMHS is a busy multi-disciplinary team providing a comprehensive service to young people 0-18 and their families.  The team receives approximately 350-500 referrals per year. There is outreach to schools and other community partners. There is close liaison and joint working with the Camden Adolescent Intensive Support Service (CAISS) around more risky cases or for those at risk of inpatient admission.

Person specification

Clinical Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Excellent knowledge in child and adolescent psychiatry or psychiatrist in medical psychotherapy
Desirable criteria
  • Eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of getting CCT
  • Wide range of specialist and sub- specialist experience relevant to post withing NHS or comparable service

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
  • Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
  • Able to deliver postgraduate teaching and training
Desirable criteria
  • Wide experience and skill of therapeutic work with children and young people and their families.
  • Evidence of working flexibly with team members and with young people providing appointments in a range of community settings.
