Job overview

We have a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced Research nurse/Clinical Trial Practitioner to join the UCL evidENT Research Team and UCLH Royal National ENT & Eastman Dental Hospitals, in a role involving the delivery of high quality clinical ENT, hearing and balance research.

As a member of evidENT, you will take a proactive role in the set-up, coordination and delivery of clinical trials happening within the division, helping us drive the divisional research portfolio towards excellence in patient safety and experience, study recruitment to time and target, and the collection and recording of study data. In addition you will assist in any research-related projects within the remit of the role, working in particular with UCLH site Chief Investigators to develop study materials according to our local SOPs.  

With evidENT, no two days will be the same - as well as working with a variety of patients and conditions of interest, you will work with clinicians and researchers across the division, and within the wider evidENT research team as well as the UCL Ear Institute on many different projects and studies.

Main duties of the job

In this role, the post holder will:

Maximise patient access to high quality clinical research and delivering expert care throughout participation, in particular through ensuring portfolio studies are on track to recruit to time and target. 

Maintain patient safety and well-being in accordance with UK Clinical Trial Regulations. 

Maintain accurate and timely written records of clinical trial activities whilst ensuring patient confidentiality. 

Collect and manage clinical trial data effectively according to the principles of GCP. 

Engage in and contribute to outreach, patient and colleague education activities as part of the evidENT Team.

In this post, you will be joining the evidENT team, an interdisciplinary team of researchers working across the UCLH RNENT&EDH and UCL Ear Institute. The team of research audiologists, research nurses, data managers, trial managers, clinicians and scientists are located across the Ear Institute offices at 91 Gower Street and the RNENT & EDH. You will be working with various team members within evidENT in different capacities, and we work hard to encourage an atmosphere of collaboration, mutual support, sharing and mentoring to make sure everyone feels welcome and well-equipped to contribute high levels of expertise and quality to our growing portfolio.

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Research Nurses only: Registered Nurse Part 1, 2, 12
Desirable criteria
  • Research Nurses and Clinical Trial Practitioners: Certificate of GCP (Good Clinical Practice)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of planning and prioritising own workload under minimal supervision
  • Post-registration nursing experience or equivalent professional experience
  • Clinical research experience (Clinical Research Practitioner)
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of ENT specific clinical skills
  • Clinical research experience (Research Nurse)
  • Experience of clinical research administration
  • Knowledge of Trust research ethics regulations
  • Phlebotomy experience
