Job overview

The Medical Specialties Division is seeking a full time MDT Coordinator and Team Leader to join the administrative team supporting Dermatology. The postholder will work with a high level of independence, ensuring deadlines are met and taking a proactive approach to managing patient pathways, optimising the Trust’s resources, and meeting NHS waiting time standards.

Main duties of the job

They will oversee the weekly Dermatology MDT meeting, maintain and update patient pathways, and track patients through to treatment. The role involves close working relationships with administrative and clinical colleagues, including medical staff, allied health professionals, and support workers. The postholder will also act as the first point of contact—by phone and email—for patients, relatives, GPs, and external hospital teams.
 
They will be responsible for escalating issues to the Service Manager, troubleshooting problems, and contributing to proactive solutions to routine challenges. The role requires the ability to manage a busy and varied workload, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal abilities

Knowledge & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree or equivalent experience or equivalent training and experience of administrative procedures
  • Experience of range of computerised software
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ Level 4 in Healthcare, Customer Care of Business Admin or equivalent
  • Understanding of medical terminology

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable level of administrative experience at a high level of competence acquired through both training and experience
  • Demonstrable experience of working in an office environment
  • Previous NHS or healthcare experience
