Are you keen to be part of a specialist dietetic team? We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and confident individual and are currently welcoming applications for an experienced Band 7 Dietitian to join our team. Applicants must have clinical experience within oncology, ideally head and neck. You should have leadership skills, the ability to work well within teams and be able to manage your time effectively.  The successful applicant will be based at University College London (UCH), part of UCLH NHS Foundation Trust.  

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide cover to head and neck patients within their care pathway in the inpatient and outpatient setting. The dietetic team are responsible for managing patients throughout their pathway from referral, during treatment and rehabilitation and long term care.  Also, we have an established service with extended scope practice for leading the enteral feeding tube service.  The dietetic team are based with the Head & Neck team and well integrated within all aspects of the service creating opportunities for development at different stages of the pathway across the multidisciplinary team.

Effective communication and negotiation skills and an ability to work effectively within teams are essential. Thinking differently with a focus on quality, efficiency and productivity are central to the culture of the head and neck dietetic team.  We are a forward thinking department of over 50 Dietitians and dietetic assistants, and are committed to professional development. You will be involved in student training initiatives.

Person specification

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Four year degree in Nutrition & Dietetics or equivalent
  • HCPC registered
Desirable criteria
  • Member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA) or equivalent association
  • Post registration training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
  • Post graduate study in specialist area of dietetics e.g. PENG course, paediatric/renal modules

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Comprehensive post registration clinical experience
  • Clinical experience in the specialist area of dietetics
Desirable criteria
  • Involvement in relevant specialist interest group

Communication

Essential criteria
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience of multidisciplinary teamwork
  • Awareness of need for confidentiality and issues of consent

Personal and People Development

Essential criteria
  • Experience of training student dietitians/other HCPs
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in the support and development of junior members of staff
  • Teaching on degree (or higher level) / professional course
