Job overview
Are you an Emergency Medicine clinician looking for the next step? Would you like to work for one of the largest and most well-recognised trusts in the UK as part of a friendly, dynamic and forward-thinking team?
We seek to train future leaders in Emergency Medicine by inviting ED clinicians to join our department. You will work on our registrar rota but will always be rostered with an MT05+ doctor for support. Our registrar rota is annualised and self-rostered meaning you can select a working pattern that suits you, including eight hours per week of educational development time which can be used for teaching, audit, research, quality improvement work, exam revision, personal study, or any other appropriate activity agreed with your consultant supervisor.
We are offering a fixed term appointment, starting August 2025, initially for 12 months but with potential to extend this. We know that doctors have lives outside of work, so we are positive about less than full-time working: talk to us if this is something you would like to consider.
Main duties of the job
The post is suitable for doctors with at least four years postgraduate experience, at least one of which should be in Emergency Medicine, and you should be able to work at the level of an MT03-05.
You will be a valued member of our registrar tier and join our team of established specialty doctors, senior fellows with specialist interests, and training registrars from the north-central east London (NCEL) rotation. We support an annualised rota and roster prospectively in 3-monthly blocks, developing individualised rotas jointly with your peers.
You will work on the registrar rota, but will always be rostered with an ST4+ doctor and would not be responsible for overall department management at night. Consultant support is available in the department 16 hours per day with a consultant on-call from home between midnight and 8am.
You will be expected to be able to work in all areas of the ED including the resuscitation room, majors, urgent treatment centre and paediatrics. You will also be responsible for reviewing patients seen by our junior medical team and complementing consultant delivered care.
