Job overview
This Junior Clinical Fellow post in Urogynaecology offers an excellent opportunity to gain focused experience within a leading tertiary pelvic floor unit at UCLH. Based in the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Wing, you will join a highly specialised multidisciplinary team delivering expert care to women with complex urogynaecological conditions.
The role is ideally suited to doctors who have completed Foundation training or early specialty training and are seeking to develop their clinical skills and understanding of pelvic floor disorders before progressing into formal training. You will gain exposure to specialist outpatient services, multidisciplinary working and surgical practice within a nationally recognised centre.
With strong clinical supervision, a supportive team environment and access to teaching, audit and research opportunities, this post provides a valuable platform to build experience, develop core skills and explore a potential career interest in urogynaecology within an academically driven service.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will support the delivery of specialist urogynaecology services, contributing to the assessment and management of women with pelvic floor disorders across outpatient, inpatient and theatre settings. You will work closely with consultants, clinical fellows and the wider multidisciplinary team, participating in clinics, multidisciplinary discussions and peri-operative care.
The role involves developing core clinical and basic surgical skills, including assisting in theatre and supporting patient pathways from initial assessment through to follow-up. You will be expected to demonstrate strong organisational skills, attention to detail and effective communication, particularly when coordinating clinical activity, contributing to MDT processes and supporting data collection for governance and national reporting.
In addition, the postholder will actively engage in audit, quality improvement and research activity, demonstrating professionalism, teamwork and a compassionate approach to patient care within a specialist and supportive environment.
