Job overview
The posts involve working in the inpatient ward teams under the supervision of Infectious diseases Consultants as well opportunities to work at the HTD’s emergency walk in service for returning travelers who have returned from tropical regions of the world within the last year who are recently unwell with conditions such as fever, bloody diarrhoea or rash. This provides a unique opportunity to work in the national referral centre from Tropical Medicine and tertiary Infectious Diseases service.
This posts would be ideal for someone who is looking to gain experience in Tropical Medicine/Infectious Diseases with a view to pursuing specialty training in Infectious Diseases.
Main duties of the job
The key responsibility is to work in the inpatient infection service at UCLH and support the HIV service based at the Mortimer market centre. This provides unparalleled experience of managing tropical and imported infections as well as complex UK acquired infection and care patients living with HIV both as inpatient and outpatient care. The posts includes attendance at the rich program of learning and training opportunities throughout the week.
Additionally, the successful candidates will be on the on call rota for Infectious Diseases at registrar level this , including ward cover for ID inpatients, and admitting referrals to ID from the Emergency Department, as well as providing advice over the phone to referring hospitals with the support of the on call consultant. The post will allow for valuable experience managing infectious presentations as well as strengthening core general medical skills.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential criteria
- Completion of all parts of MRCP
- Completion of internal medicine training or equivalent competencies
- Experience in clinical infectious diseases including imported infections
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working with the Electronic health record system used at UCH -EPIC
Skills, Abilities & Knowledge
