An exciting opportunity has arisen to join UCLH’s Elizabeth Garrett Anderson (EGA) Wing, which provides comprehensive, high-quality care with the latest technology for women and their babies in the areas of maternity and neonatal care.
We are seeking a bright and enthusiastic individual to join our admin service to work on the maternity ward receptions. This is a permanent, full-time role working 37.5 hours a week, with a requirement to work shifts, Nights, Weekends and Bank Holidays.
The successful applicants will be patient focused with excellent customer care skills and an eye for detail. They will enjoy daily interactions with patients, visitors and multidisciplinary hospital staff.
We are looking for candidates who are seeking an opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge across the different areas to be covered. The work will be interesting and varied, giving good grounding for career progression.

Main duties of the job
This role will be an integral part of the multidisciplinary team within our Maternity department. The post holder will be providing a high quality, comprehensive range of administrative duties and will be expected to deliver an excellent patient and user experience. The primary duty will be working on our Inpatient reception areas as a Receptionist which consists of Front of House, Maternity Triage, Labour Ward and Postnatal Ward receptions.
The post holder will also be interacting with patients via telephone, email and in person in a friendly and professional manner, as well as performing all administrative tasks.

Person specification
Knowledge and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent, with Grade C or above in English and Maths.
- Knowledge of administrative procedures, acquired through training and/or previous experience of working in an administrative environment.
- Awareness of the requirement to maintain confidentiality, and knowledge of the Data Protection Act.
Desirable criteria
- NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration, Customer Service, Healthcare Support Services or equivalent qualification.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in a non-routine environment, with demonstrable evidence of being able to respond to queries and deal with unpredictable situations as they arise (acquired through experience and/or training to Vocational level 3 or equivalent).
- Experience of working in a customer facing environment, with knowledge of a comprehensive range of administrative procedures.
