Job overview

UCLH is seeking a Fixed-Term Contract Senior Reports Analyst to join the Business Intelligence Reports team for 12 months.

The post holder is responsible for developing and maintenance of accurate, timely and meaningful business intelligence reports to support management decision making across the Trust enabling high quality clinical care and ensuring that internal and external reporting obligations are met.

The post holder will act as a lead specialist and support all levels and functions within the Trust by providing a highly advanced information development and analysis service to the trust boards, and external partners and agencies.

Main duties of the job

•    Support the development and provision of routine business intelligence reports and external mandatory data submissions.  This could be through a mixture of leading on small projects, improving existing reports, producing new reports and deputising for the Reports Manager as required.  
•    Develop and building innovative systems and reports to support changing and emerging business requirements for information provision and reporting.
•    Making improvements in and automation of existing processes, validation and reports.
•    Production of routine internal and external reports in an accurate, timely and complete way.
•    To be a source of BI expertise for the trust

Person specification

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Holds a relevant Masters’ degree level qualification or equivalent experience

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience in an information analysis role
  • Experience of working with relational databases
  • Experience of using query tool functionality
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in an NHS informatics role or other healthcare information environment

Skills and Abilities

Essential criteria
  • In depth specialist knowledge of information analysis and the use of information in support of business objectives
  • Ability to interrogate databases
  • Ability to interpret complex data
  • Ability to convert data to management information
  • Ability to independently interpret the requirements of information users and present detailed, complex reports that can be understood by a wide audience.
  • Understanding of data quality issues and how these relate to the organisation as a whole
  • Strong SQL (or equivalent) skills
  • Intermediate / advanced use of MS Excel
Desirable criteria
  • Intermediate use of Power BI
  • Understanding of income algorithms and financial planning in the NHS
  • Understanding of the use of clinical terms and codes within the NHS
