We’re looking for a proactive and motivated individual to join us as the Band 5 Admin Team Leader for Neurological Rehabilitation at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, part of the Queen Square Division.
This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a fast-paced, patient-facing leadership role, where you’ll oversee a team of administrative coordinators and play a key part in ensuring the smooth running of inpatient and outpatient rehab services.
The role combines team management, service coordination, and operational problem-solving, with responsibilities ranging from clinic oversight and patient pathway validation to managing data for national reporting through the UKROC database. Main duties of the job
The main duties of the Band 5 Admin Team Leader (Rehab) include overseeing the day to-day operations of the rehabilitation administrative team, ensuring clinics and patient pathways run smoothly and efficiently.
The post holder will manage and support a team of Administrative Coordinators, handle rota planning, appraisals, recruitment, and training,
and act as a key point of contact for resolving complex queries and operational issues.
They will also coordinate and improve administrative processes, manage data accuracy (including responsibility for the UKROC database), support service performance monitoring, and contribute to service improvement initiatives. The role requires strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills to maintain high standards of
patient experience and operational excellence.

We are a small but complex department, covering many different aspects of infectious diseases and tropical medicine. We operate an outpatient clinic as well as an emergency walk-in service, antibiotic infusion service, and pre-travel clinic.

Knowledge and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree and/or an appropriate professional qualification or equivalent experience
- Expert knowledge of the full range of administrative procedures, acquired through previous experience of working in an administrative environment.
- Knowledge and experience of information systems used for the storage and retrieval of sensitive personal information.
- Awareness of the requirement to maintain confidentiality, and knowledge of the Data Protection Act.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous administrative experience in a large and complex organisation, preferably within the NHS
- Experience of working in a customer facing environment, resolving queries and using initiative to ensure first -class service delivery.
Desirable criteria
- Proven experience in service improvement and development
- Proven experience in effective leadership of staff
- A proven record of success in managing change while also developing and maintaining high standards of quality Experience of working in a non-routine environment, with demonstrable evidence of problem solving and resolving issues as they arise.
