Job overview

We are looking to recruit 2 highly motivated and dedicated Clinical Fellows for 12 months from October 2025 in the Andrology department. We would be happy to consider anyone who can start earlier than October 2025 also.

The consultants and their specialties are:

Mr Alnajjar – General andrology, penile & testicular cancer
Mr Christopher – Phalloplasty, reconstruction & general andrology
Mr Lee (Honorary Consultant) – Phalloplasty, reconstruction & general andrology
Miss Li (Honorary Consultant) – General andrology & reconstruction
Prof Muneer – General andrology, penile & testicular cancer
Prof Ralph – General andrology & reconstruction
Miss Sangster – General andrology & infertility

The clinical fellows will gain experience of both first time and revision implants, Nesbit and grafting for Peyronie’s disease, surgical sperm retrieval, microsurgery and surgical treatment for penile cancer lymphadenectomy. The Andrology department is also a centre for penile and testicular cancer and so fellows will gain experience in the management of penile and testicular cancer and surgical procedures.

Research is encouraged.

The post holders will provide a safe and effective service for patients under the supervision of the Consultant Urologist. They will undertake theatre lists, clinics and other clinical activities. The post holder will lead on the management of inpatients and undertake on-call for the department as required.

Main duties of the job

•    The Clinical Fellow will have primary charge of all patients admitted to the service and the day to day care of the patients.

•    The Clinical Fellow will attend ward rounds with the Consultants and will be expected to visit each of their Firm’s patients on a daily basis, assisting the ward-duty Trust Doctor.

•    There are regular clinics at which the Clinical Fellow will have the opportunity to see new patients, patients recently discharged from the ward and also patients who are under ongoing follow up.

•    There will be opportunities to observe, assist and operate in theatre as directed by the consultant.

•    Prescribe drugs and diets for both inpatients and outpatients.

•    Urology admissions frequently arise from trauma and the Clinical Fellow will be expected to liaise closely with the full range of multi-disciplinary teams involved in their care.  Attendance and support for the weekly multi-disciplinary team meeting will be a requirement of the role.

•    The Clinical Fellow will also be expected to take part in and present audit and research projects.

•    The Clinical Fellow will also be expected to take part in teaching other staff, and undergraduate and postgraduate students.
