Job overview

We are looking to recruit a Band 6 Deputy Charge Nurse to join our Urology Pre- Assessment Clinic at Westmoreland Street who demonstrates leadership, active listening skills and the ability to convey messages and feed-back in a clear, direct manner. The successful candidate will be able to speak with assurance to inspire trust and credibility and will not to shy away from constructive and fair criticism when needed. You will be able to manage emotions in conversations in communication and be empathetic and aware of team members feelings. You will be able to inspire your team with the support of the clinic sister, handle disagreements calmly and be able to work with common purpose promoting collaboration.

Main duties of the job

You will actively work with the sister on the changes demanded by NHS England to ensure all patients waiting for surgery are assessed in a timely manner. The appointee will manage the clinic in the absence of the clinic sister. You will need to be committed to improving patient care, work autonomously, have excellent documentation skills, demonstrate initiative, and possess advanced communication and strong organisational skills. You will be happy to coordinate the clinic after induction and the completion of competencies and will be able to assess your own patient list successfully and independently. You will support Screening, Fast-track and clinical pre-op work confidently using software such as Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Word, Epic, and Outlook and will have very good computer skills. You will be happy to work from home on a Trust laptop and in clinic at short notice to ensure great clinic flow of patients. You will have the ability to work under pressure to meet patient surgery deadlines and will support other staff with case management as needed. You will be able to demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop your clinical knowledge base and skills. Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse Part 1, 2 or relevant section of the register
  • Relevant Teaching course
  • NVQ assessor
  • Experiene in Urology specialty

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience at band 5
  • Previous experience in urology
  • Previous experience of coordinating fast pacing patient turn over.
