Job overview
The Leadership & Management Tutor - Higher Psychiatry (North West London Training Programmes) will support the onward development and delivery of our bespoke programme of Leadership and Management training in the Higher Psychiatry Regional Training Programme in North West London.
The post holder will additionally deliver an Action Learning Sets (ALS) Programme for Higher Residents and support the identification of supervisors/mentors for management projects within their employing Trust which can be presented at an executive level.
This exciting role will play a key part in realising the commitment of the Trust to embedding the Faculty of Medical Leadership & Management (FMLM) Standards.
Main duties of the job
Working in collaboration with key stakeholders, including Training Programme Directors, Training Managers and Doctors in Postgraduate Training you will organise, plan and support delivery of bespoke training sessions in Leadership and Management in the Higher Psychiatry Regional Training Programme for NW London.
In addition, you will manage the Action Learning Set Programme for higher residents to support mentored management projects and ensure systems for quality assurance for the programme as a whole.
Drawing on your experience at a senior level of medical management and training you will shape the development of our future consultant workforce. In this role you will be closely linked to the educational governance structures and will bring a close working knowledge of the management, governance and strategic development of clinical services and postgraduate medical education both a national, regional and local level.

Essential criteria
- Qualified medical doctor with at least seven years’ experience post Foundation (or equivalent) Doctor level
- Full registration with the GMC with a license to practice
- Accreditation as GMC accredited Trainer or eligible for this role
Desirable criteria
- Postgraduate qualification in medical education
Experience and achievements
Essential criteria
- Experience of medical management or leadership, innovation and change management
- Experience and demonstrable track record in delivering high quality medical education and training
Desirable criteria
- Experience of multi-professional training
- The use of simulation and technology to enhance learning relevant to medical education
- Evidence of audit/research/publications in medical education
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Close working knowledge of the management, governance and strategic development of clinical services and postgraduate medical education both a national, regional and local level specific to the requirements of the role
