Consultant
West London NHS Trust provides a full range of mental health, community and physical healthcare services for children, adults and older people living in the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow.
We also provide some specialist services that are commissioned regionally, such as our medium secure services; and nationally, such as the Cassel Hospital for people with complex and severe personality disorder and our high secure services at Broadmoor Hospital.
Job overview
We have a substantive consultant post available at Hounslow SOAMHS (Specialist Older Adult Mental Health Services) and hence are looking for a colleague with experience of working in older adult mental health services. We want someone to join us who is an excellent clinician, enthusiastic leader and mentor and who is passionate about continuous service improvement.
Main duties of the job
You should have good communication and interpersonal skills and be able to demonstrate an ability to work effectively and flexibly with a multi professional team. The role reports directly to the Clinical Director, Medicalh Lead and Head of Operations.
Hounslow SOAMHS is a community team for people over 70 with a mental health needs based in the borough of Hounslow in West London. It is a specialist commissioned service with a highly skilled and synergistic multidisciplinary team.

Essential criteria
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
Desirable criteria
- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management

Eligibility
Essential criteria
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice at the time of appointment
- GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months
- Approved Clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
- Good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
- Approved under S12 OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
Desirable criteria
- GMC Specialist Register (old age psychiatry or dual training in both adult and old age) or within six months
Clinical knowledge
Essential criteria
- Excellent clinical skills in assessment and treatment of older adults with mental health issues
- Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA
- Excellent knowledge in speciality

- Wide range of specialist and sub- specialist experience relevant to post within NHS or comparable service
