Working for our organisation
Whittington Health serves a richly diverse population and works hard to ensure that all our services are fair and equally accessible to everyone. Nowhere is this more obvious than in the way we look after our staff. We aim to employ a workforce which is as representative as possible of this population, so we are open to the value of differences in age, disability, gender, marital status, pregnancy and maternity, race, sexual orientation, and religion or belief. The Trust believes that as a public sector organisation we have an obligation to have recruitment, training, promotion and other formal employment policies and procedures that are sensitive to these differences. We think that by doing so, we are better able to treat our patients as well as being a better place to work.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The department of Dermatology is a core service within the Integrated Clinical Service Unit of Surgery & Cancer (ICSU). It serves the populations of Haringey, Islington and Camden directly, and receives referrals from across London through the NHS Choose and Book service. It manages approximately 10,000 patient attendances annually.
We offer general Dermatology clinics (standard template: 6 new, 6 follow-up) and a range of specialist clinics.
The Dermatology department is actively involved in clinical research and is currently participating in several international clinical trials. currently has several clinical trials. The Surgery & Cancer ICSU is keen to extend its research programme into the field of dermatology and will assist in applying for research grants where appropriate. We have a dedicated Research Team who assist with clinical trials. It is of particular importance to the hospital that the postholder fosters excellent collaborative working relationships with local GPs, both individually and through the CCG.
The postholder should be willing to assist and support the expansion of Teledermatology services. There is therefore the opportunity to convert a general dermatology clinic PA to Teledermatology depending on service need.
