The Emergency & Integrated Medicine Care Service Unit (ICSU) is looking to recruit a Band 4 data co-ordinator to work within dedicated specialty areas

We are seeking a highly motivated and organised individual to join a busy team. This is an ideal opportunity for a proactive and self-motivated individual who enjoys working in a fast paced environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to work under pressure is essential to the role. The role will support the clinical team and improve the patient pathway

Main duties of the job

The PPC will assist the patient throughout their hospital experience to ensure that care provided is timely, efficient, and appropriate in regards to all members of the healthcare/ multidisciplinary team. The PPC is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient management of the patient throughout their pathway; giving the patient a single point of contact for their appointments, ensuring the patients and carer experience is central to every stage of the patient journey, and ensuring potential breaches of RTT (referral to treatment) waiting times targets are avoided or escalated to the relevant manager. This role includes data entry

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will proactively manage the data entry for a national database and track the progress of all referrals to ensure each stage of the pathway is fully planned and booked, whilst also working with colleagues throughout the Trust to ensure waiting time targets are achieved.

They will be required to assist in the data quality and validation, ensuring all patients have recorded pathway start dates, and support the management team to identify areas that require pathway improvements.

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent including English and Mathematics

Skills & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • • Experience dealing with customer complaints and customer care.
  • • The ability to prioritise tasks effectively
  • • Experience of using a full range of IT/Patient administration systems
Desirable criteria
  • • One year’s experience working in a similar role in a hospital/health care setting.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Knowledge of databases, spreadsheets e.g. PAS, Excel or similar applications
  • • Knowledge of confidentiality and data protection principles
  • • Equality and diversity
Desirable criteria
  • • Understanding of medical terminology
