Job overview
The women's department is looking to recruit a nurse to work in the women’s diagnostic unit. The department is a busy, well renowned department with good support from consultants, nurse specialists and administration staff.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the day to day nursing support of the unit, assist in procedures and provide support and reassurance to patients attending the clinic. The successful applicant will be encouraged to further knowledge and skills in the area of women’s health.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development of programmes of care and their implementation and evaluation within women's health.
The post holder is also expected to carry all relevant forms of care following appropriate training and will be required to demonstrate procedures to qualified and unqualified staff, and supervise unqualified members of the team. The post holder will have an interest in the specialist area of women’s health and expand knowledge and skills in this area.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Have an interest in women’s health nursing and be aware of the procedures and protocols surrounding the care and treatment of this group of patients.
Carry out nursing care to the highest possible standard according to Trust Policies and Practice and Clinical Guidelines
The post holder will work following appropriate training in the Womens health department, ensuring that a preceptorship programme is followed and competencies achieved.
Administer medications to patients on an as needed basis. This requires a thorough understanding of individual medicines, their effects, side effects and interactions. There must also be knowledge of the legislation controlling the use, storage, administration and prescription of medicines.
To work within the scope of nursing practice and undertake training to develop the skills needed for your area, including assisting with medical procedures e.g. biopsies, caring for patients following sedation and/or local anaesthesia.
Exercise professional accountability as guided by the NMC Code of Conduct (nurses).
Act as an effective role model to student nurses/HCA’s.

- Previous RN Experience in acute/ community setting
- Shows interest in gaining experience in women's health outpatient nursing .
- Good nursing skills. Knowledge of general nursing principles, policies and procedures.

- Post reg course in women’s health

- Effective communication verbal, written skills
