Job overview
We are looking for an expert to lead our IT Network team at Whittington Health Integrated Care Organisation. You will be responsible for managing our team in delivering a secure and resilient IT network infrastructure for the Trust, as well as managing key staff and supplier relationships.
Main duties of the job
You will need strong hands-on experience in the relevant technical areas and demonstrable problem-solving skills. Along with the ability to provide clear leadership to the team and inspire them to deliver a quality service to the Trust.
You will need good communication skills and the ability to engage across a wide group of stakeholders building relationships with key suppliers and staff. The role will build the services towards our digital strategy and support the increasing reliance on technology and need for dependable network services.
You should have experience of developing and refreshing Network infrastructure and managing the associated projects required to deliver this.
This role will require a significant on-site presence, and ability to participate in on-call rota for major issues out of hours.

Whittington Health is an Integrated Care Organisation, consisting of an Acute Hospital and Community Services across multiple sites in North Central London. The IT service is in house, and the network team is a part of an established Technical Service team within the Information Management and Technology Department
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Be responsible for the design, planning, configuration, deployment, maintenance, and operational running of an enterprise network infrastructure for the Whittington Health NHS Trust.
- Manage Network team (currently manager plus 2 staff)
- Planning and prioritising to ensure the work of the team is delivered in a timely manner and to a high standard.
- Develop strong relationships with the Trust management and emergency planning staff.
- Manage 3rd line suppliers and contracts.
- Manage service development and planning.
- Expertise in key technologies. Cisco Wired and wireless networks, Extreme wired, Checkpoint firewalls, Citrix.
- Provide leadership in identifying hardware and software purchases, ensuring that they are consistent with the Trust’s IT Strategy and NHS technology guidelines.
- To lead Network and related projects on behalf of the Trust as required
- Resolve complex and critical Network issues.
- Provide expert technical guidance to the Network team & IM&T service desk staff
- Be a source of technical and user documentation.
- Participate in on-call for major issues out of hours.
