Job overview

Applications are invited for the post of  Oncology Clinical Teaching Fellow at the Whittington Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated doctor to join a dynamic oncology team, with a particular emphasis on medical education.

The Oncology Service is a core part of the Surgery & Cancer Integrated Care Service Unit (ICSU), delivering care to over 3,200 oncology patients and 6,000 breast outpatients annually. The department provides specialist treatment across a range of malignancies, including breast, lung, gastrointestinal, prostate, and haematological cancers. Facilities include a dedicated chemotherapy unit with 15 chairs and an on-site chemotherapy pharmacy. Breast and lung multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings are held jointly with University College Hospital (UCH), while the GI MDT is based at Whittington. All breast cancer surgery, including implant-based reconstruction, is carried out on site, while gastrointestinal and lung cancer surgeries are performed at UCH. Radiotherapy services are also delivered at UCH.

Support services include an on-site Macmillan Information Service, a cancer-specific clinical psychology service, and a vibrant programme of CNS-led wellbeing events. This creates a holistic and patient-centred environment that supports both patients and staff.

Please note this post may close early if sufficient applications have been received.

Working for our organisation

Whittington Health serves a richly diverse population and works hard to ensure that all our services are fair and equally accessible to everyone. Nowhere is this more obvious than in the way we look after our staff.  We aim to employ a workforce which is as representative as possible of this population, so we are open to the value of differences in age, disability, gender, marital status, pregnancy and maternity, race, sexual orientation, and religion or belief.  The Trust believes that as a public sector organisation we have an obligation to have recruitment, training, promotion and other formal employment policies and procedures that are sensitive to these differences. We think that by doing so, we are better able to treat our patients as well as being a better place to work.
