Job overview

To assist in the routine daily planning and organisation of the Recovery Room. To assist in the safe delivery of care to meet patients' needs. To ensure accurate assessments,planning,Implementation and evaluation of care for patients. To carry out nursing care to the highest possible standard according to trust policies,practice and guidelines.To support and develop Junior members of the recovery team,student nurses and Midwifery students.

Main duties of the job

Liaise communicate with colleagues including members of the MDT to ensure  cooperation  with achieving objectives,to promote good working relationships. Assist in providing support and guidance for junior nursing staff. To ensure that nursing procedures and policies are followed. To use resources both effectively and efficiently. To maintain accurate written documentation in relation to patient care.To Interact with patients,visitors in the Theatre department,other members of the nursing team and managers in a positive and supportive way. To carry out duties appropriate to your grade as assigned by Team Leader or Theatre Matron.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To work as team member. Is able to manage junior staff and learners.

A good knowledge of all surgical specialities is essential.

Checking,witnessing  and administering of controlled drugs.

To set up and start administration of PCA and Epidural pumps,being able to troubleshoot any potential problems An understanding of Infusion pumps and syringes.

To participate in all aspects of Post Operative care of Patients.

To maintain effective communication between all specialities of the Theatre Team,including Scrub, Anaesthetic and Surgical Teams

Education/Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • RGN/RN Degree in Adult nursing
  • Recent experience working in Theatres as a Recovery practitioner
Desirable criteria
  • Post Graduate Course

Skills and Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Able to work under Minimal Supervision
  • Able to manage Learners
  • Good verbal and Written Communication Skills
  • Good knowledge of all surgical specialities
Desirable criteria
  • Good IT Skills
  • Prioritisation Skills
