Job overview

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that clinical areas have a continuous supply of medical and surgical consumables in line with the Trust’s materials management systems. This will include visiting the clinical areas to an agreed schedule, undertaking inventory using Trust's Inventory Management System and put away stock on shelves in clinical areas when deliveries arrive.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that clinical areas have a continuous supply of medical and surgical consumables in line with the Trust’s materials management systems. This will include visiting the clinical areas to an agreed schedule, undertaking inventory using Trust's Inventory Management System and put away stock on shelves in clinical areas when deliveries arrive. The post holder will assist with the day-to-day administration of the Supplies Department and provide purchasing support as directed by the Deputy Logistics Manager.
The post holder will have a nominated base but can be required to work on any PPS site, depending on the needs of the service.

Person specification

Education / Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • A level standard of literacy, mathematics to read instructions or reference material to set stock levels
  • Ability to understand instructions and/or follow task lists
  • Knowledge of contract law acquired through Short courses or equivalent experience

Skills & Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Basic awareness of Health and Safety in the workplace
  • Able to undertake a range of manual and routine tasks
  • Self-motivated and able to use own initiative Ability to integrate into a team environment

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Min 5 years’ experience in management of materials working in NHS environment
  • Experience with working with Excel understanding and able to present this information when required
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience in distribution and ISO9000 procedures
