Job overview

We are currently looking for enthusiastic and motivated Band 5’s who have a passion for Emergency Nursing to join our friendly Emergency Department. It is desirable to have post registration experience in an acute care setting and have the resilience to meet the challenges of our busy but rewarding department, however we would also like to hear from newly qualified nurses or those who have worked in an acute setting prior or during training and have an interest in making this their career

Newham Emergency Department serves a large diverse population and on average see’s 400-500 patients a day, including acute medical patients, paediatrics, and patients in a mental health crisis.

Main duties of the job

To provide the highest standard of individualised and holistic patient care, in conjunction with the interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary teams. You will be self-motivated an excellent communicator and have proven clinical and organisational skills but also have a desire to learn and develop and work as an integral member of our large and dynamic team. The post holder will work within the NMC Code, trust policies, guidance, and procedures to ensure safe working practice.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree Registered Paediatric Nurse or equivalent experience
  • NMC Registration in Uk
Desirable criteria
  • Drug administration
  • Mentorship Course or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse who can demonstrate a commitment and interest in Emergency Nursing via experience as a student or in a healthcare role.
Desirable criteria
  • Previous Emergency Department Experience
  • Experience of working in an Acute Care Setting
  • Experience of Caring for patients in mental health crisis

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Clinical governance
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge and understanding of National issues relating to Emergency Care

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to carry out essential nursing care and procedures
  • Ability to prioritise clinical work effectively
  • Ability to recognise own limitations and work within limits of competence

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both a written and oral manner
