Job overview
To provide specialist Dietetic clinics to General Practices in Kingston. You will provide expert nutritional advice and support to patients within a primary care setting, working as part of a multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes related to diet and health. You will assess, diagnose and treat a wide range of diet-related conditions, offering personalized care plans and education on healthy eating habits.
Main duties of the job
To provide a high-quality, evidence based dietetic service to Primary Care (GP Clinics).
To undertake complex assessments of patients’ diets and clinical status to formulate individualised management and treatment plans. This will include interpreting biochemical data and qualitative/quantitative analysis of nutritional information.
To communicate effectively with patients and carers to maximise advice given to the patient and carer. This will often involve working in stressful conditions requiring the ability to react sensitively where patients have received a difficult diagnosis. Persuasive and motivational interviewing skills will be used.
To communicate effectively with the referral agents and other health professionals as necessary through personal, written or telephone contact. This will include liaising with GPs for the prescription of supplementary feeding and district nurses in the care of patients in their own home.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential criteria
- BSc in Nutrition & Dietetics or BSc in relevant Science plus post graduate diploma in Dietetics
- HCPC registered
- Substantial and relevant experience working in dietetics post qualification
- Adequate experience of working with adult patients in an acute hospital and outpatient setting
- Experience of running outpatient clinics independently.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of creating clinical protocols and clinical pathways
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Evidence of a wide variety of clinical knowledge including Diabetes, Weight Management, Gastroenterology, Oral Nutrition Support, Malnutrition
- Relevant Best Practice, NSF and NICE guidance
- Principles and practice of Audit, Clinical Governance, standards and care pathways
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of Paediatric Dietetics
