Band 7 Team Lead Physiotherapist – Frank Cooksey Rehabilitation Unit (1b Neurorehabilitation Ward)
Permanent Contract | Orpington Hospital, Kent
An exciting opportunity for a permanent position has arisen for an experienced and motivated Band 7 Physiotherapist to join the Frank Cooksey Rehabilitation Unit (FCRU). Our 1b neurorehabilitation ward, providing specialist physiotherapy assessment and treatment to patients from across South East London and beyond.
Main duties of the job
You will be joining a well-established, supportive Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) committed to delivering high-quality neurorehabilitation. The ideal candidate will bring strong clinical expertise in neurological rehabilitation, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative approach to leadership.
About You:
Significant senior experience in neurological rehabilitation.
Advanced clinical reasoning and assessment skills.
Completion of relevant postgraduate neurology courses.
Familiarity with UKROC outcome measures and a commitment to evidence-based practice.
A proactive and flexible approach to leadership and service improvement.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
About the Role:
Lead and support a team comprising a full-time Band 7, two Band 6s, a Band 5, and Rehabilitation Assistants.
Deliver advanced physiotherapy assessment and treatment for patients with complex neurological conditions in rehabilitation phase and be involved in complex discharge planning with the MDT.
Work closely with the part-time Clinical Lead Physiotherapist for Neurorehabilitation.
Contribute to service development, clinical audits, and MDT initiatives.
Participate in weekend working at the Princess Royal University Hospital.

Experience
Essential criteria
- Wide-ranging post graduate clinical experience including respiratory, rehabilitation and musculo-skeletal conditions
- Specialist knowledge of Neurorehabilitation and understanding in a broad range of neurological conditions and problems; acute and rehabilitation settings
- Excellent assessment skills and varied rehabilitation techniques
- Has knowledge of NHS discharge planning and routes
Desirable criteria
- Experience and competence in therapy adjuncts e.g FES, splinting
- Experience leading a physiotherapy team
Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BSc or recognised postgraduate MSc in Physiotherapy
- Registration with the HCPC
Desirable criteria
- Member of CSP
- MSc in related subject
Skills and Competencies
Essential criteria
- Competent to take part in on call and weekend physiotherapy rota
- IT skills, email, Excel, databases etc
- Able to give clear, concise written and verbal reports in English and complete POM Records
- Able to work as a team leader showing commitment to that team
- Able to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary team and understand roles of MDT and own role within MDT
