Job overview

The post holder will deliver shifts from a trauma informed perspective, taking guidance from the team within the managing risk framework at the service. Lived personal/close relative experience of mental health challenges are welcomed.

The post holder will be guided alongside colleagues in the interventions on each shift and will also have senior staff to provide them with ongoing live supervision/reflective practice. 

 

The post holder will lead on some activities in the house and be responsible with others that the environment maintains the privacy, dignity and respect of all those who use the service.

The post holder will work shifts alongside senior staff at weekends when required. 

This job description is written as an indication of the nature and scope of duties and responsibilities. Main duties of the job

·       Build a therapeutic relationship with guests using a person-centred approach/trauma informed/social model of care.

·       Work collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary team with guests to develop their recovery plan and promote personal responsibility.

·       To work with the peers and clinicians to plan and deliver a range of therapeutic activities that promote recovery.

·       To be an excellent communicator, know how to use time effectively, to be empathetic, compassionate and have the ability to deal with situations sensitively.

·       Actively promote the rights and responsibilities of guests. This may include supporting with seeking other services such as accommodation, benefits, and advocacy.

·       Input guests notes and progress on the Trust’s electronic patient records system.

·       Build relationships with the local community and statutory services and connect guests to those resources.

In order to meet the needs of the Trust you may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work. This may mean that you are required to work at any location that fall under Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey or Islington. Detailed job description and main responsibilities

·       To establish a supportive and respectful relationship with service users.

·       Encourage and motivate service users to create co-produce care plans and enable service users to engage with the actions of their care plan.

·       Share/teach coping self-help, self-management techniques and tools.

·       Work in a strength-based way that acknowledges the personal, social, cultural, and spiritual strengths.

·       Support service users to identify and overcome fears and challenge negative self-talk.

·       Assist service users to map their wellbeing and recovery by using a variety of

tools.

·       Facilitate and co-deliver psychoeducation and other recovery courses.

·       Work closely with carers/family members to enable service users to continue

their recovery journey in the community.

·       Connect service users to community groups and networks that enable them to

participate in community activities and progress in their recovery journey

Education/ Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good level of secondary education to GCSE level, or equivalent.
  • Level of educational attainment to NVQ 3 / AS Level or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
  • Related Health or Social Care qualification

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • A working knowledge of Understanding of the issues and concerns of mental health service users mental health problems such as eating disorders, anxiety, depression and personality disorders
  • Experience of working in a team or a group environment.
  • Understanding and practical knowledge of recovery
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding of the service delivery goals of the care pathway
  • Understanding of CPA/ Dialogue + and the role of care coordinator and knowledge of Trust Policies and procedures

Skills and Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Excellent written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills
  • Compassionate – excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests, carers and relatives remaining sensitive and empathetic.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of person-centred care and recovery-focused practice.
