Are you looking to develop your Physiotherapy skills in inpatient rehabilitation. We currently have a vacancy for a Band 6 Physiotherapist position on our general rehabilitation ward at Potters Bar Community Hospital . This role offers an excellent opportunity to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering client centred evidence based care in a general rehab ward.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and innovative multi-disciplinary team where you can develop your rehabilitation skills in a variety of conditions such as Orthopaedics, amputees, elderly care and general medical conditions. You will have a role developing your Physiotherapy practice and deliver evidence based rehabilitation and assessments to a variety of patients with diverse needs.  You will have the opportunity to supervise junior staff, rehabilitation assistants and students, as well as partaking in audit and service improvement projects.

Main duties of the job

  • Be an active member of the clinical team, providing a comprehensive Physiotherapy service to residents of West Hertfordshire within the bed based unit.
  • Work within professional standards and clinical guidelines, promote best practice and to undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner including assessing and treating own caseload of patients/clients and maintaining professional documentation.
  •  Build up and maintain key relationships with referring services across CLCH including the acute and community teams to facilitate appropriate referrals and an understanding of the role of the Physiotherapist and the Multi-professional team
  • Be responsible for the supervision of junior staff, Rehabilitation Care Workers and Physiotherapy students
  • To work when required in a variety of settings including clinics, clients own home, Residential and Nursing Homes, Acute and Community Hospitals.
  • Support self and service development through active participation in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and by participating in any Inservice Training, Audit or research being undertaken by the service

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Skills in the assessment and treatment of adults with complex multi-pathologies
  • Knowledge and understanding of complex medical conditions including multi-pathologies and falls
  • Knowledge of role of Allied Health Professionals and interdisciplinary team working
  • Knowledge of outcome measures and evidence based practice associated with physiotherapy

Education/Qualification

Essential criteria
  • Diploma/degree in Physiotherapy
  • Current HPC registration
  • Evidence of up to date CPD portfolio
  • Involvement in Appraisal Scheme
  • Attendance at specialist short courses or equivalent CPD activities within the specialist areas of Adult Rehabilitation, Neurology, Orthopaedics, Musculoskeletal Outpatients, Older People Rehabilitation
Desirable criteria
  • Member of CSP
  • Member of a Special Interest Group relevant to the rotational clinical areas

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience post registration as a Band 5 physiotherapist
  • Experience working at a Band 5 level in a wide range of specialised clinical areas
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in Falls Prevention Team, Community Rehabilitation, Outpatients and learning disability
  • Experience working as a Band 6 Physiotherapist
  • Experience working in the NHS
