Band 3
PEOPLE are at the HEART of everything we do
This video gives a flavour of what it is like to work at our Trust and why some of our staff love working here 💙
Job overview
The Trust is committed to working closely with its partners in the community to place patients’ needs at the centre of its services. The Trust’s primary aim is to provide the right care, in the right place and at the right time to the highest standards. Queen’s Hospital is situated close to the A12, within walking distance of Romford British Rail Station and local amenities. King George Hospital is situated in Barley Lane, Goodmayes with good transport links.
The Radiology department operates from multiple sites to provide a wide range of imaging services including fully digital General x-ray department, CT, MRI, Neuro and Vascular Interventional Radiology, Cardiac Angiography, Dexa and Ultrasound.
We are looking for suitably qualified staff to cover Night duties as a radiology support worker; to provide support to the radiographers as part of our out of hours cover and to maintain smooth patient flows throughout the department.
The support worker should be able to undertake a number of duties that support the activities of the General x-ray (Plain Films) department. You will be required to work flexibly and ability to work across both Queens and King George Hospitals. We are a 7-day working department, with a flexible working pattern to support service needs.
These duties are divided into three main areas: Care of the patient, Clerical duties and the Working environment. We are a multicultural and friendly department, with commitment to the personal development of staff to encourage career progression.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will provide support to Radiologists, Radiographers and Sonographers within Radiology, including preparation and tidying of rooms, care of patients, clerical and processing duties.
Working for our organisation
We’re an organisation that is getting better and better and our improvements are driven by a determination to deliver care we’re proud of and our patients are happy with. We’re no longer in special measures; we’ve opened two new theatres at our Elective Surgical Hub in King George Hospital (KGH); and, in recognition of our progress, we’ve been shortlisted for Trust of the Year at the Health Service Journal Awards.
We operate from two main sites – KGH in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford. We have two busy emergency departments with more than 330,000 people visiting them last year. We’re campaigning to secure the £35m we need to transform the A&E at Queen’s and get rid of corridor care.
Our patients are benefitting from our Women’s Health Hub in Ilford; an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital and at St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub.
These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week and are providing an extra 94,000 scans a year.
The majority of our 8,000 staff – who come from 146 different countries - live in the three diverse London boroughs we serve and are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. Many can work flexibly and more than 400 of them are on our Ofsted accredited apprenticeship programmes. We’re proud to be a London Living Wage employer.
We’re looking forward to introducing an electronic patient record that will be transformative for our staff and beneficial for our patients.
