This video gives a flavour of what it is like to work at our Trust and why some of our staff love working here 💙
Job overview
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 Anesthetic practitioner with a recognised post graduate anesthetic nursing qualification or ODP qualification to join our dynamic anesthetic team at Queens Hospital BHRUT. You must have extensive anesthetic experience in various specialties in the perioperative field to become the successful candidate. This is a permanent post in Main Theatres. The department operates 24/7 365 days a year including bank holidays.
We have 16 operating theatres with various specialities including Neurosurgery, General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, ENT, Trauma, Gynaecology, Maxillo Facial, Pain and Obstetrics and work across two sites Queens Hospital and King Georges Hospital. You will be committed to clinical excellence, with effective communication, interpersonal and organisational skills. You should have a flexible approach to working hours.
For further information on this role, please see the attached detailed Job Description and Person Specification.
Main duties of the job
To provide integrated clinical leadership to a team of Anesthetic Practitioners nurses within the department in order to care for patients in the Operating Theatre environment to the highest possible standard and to develop practice with support from the Anesthetic Team Leader.
To assume responsibility for the operational management of staff and resources in the absence of the Team Leader, taking a lead in a specific aspect of operational management in the Theatre setting.
To act as a role model and create an environment that promotes excellence in Theatre practice and empowers staff to develop high levels of clinical skills and autonomy.
Working for our organisation
We’re an organisation that is getting better and better and our improvements are driven by a determination to deliver care we’re proud of and our patients are happy with.
They are benefitting from a new electronic patient record (we were the last acute trust in London to introduce one) and our maternity services have been rated good by the Care Quality Commission.
We operate from two main sites – KGH in Goodmayes and Queen’s Hospital in Romford. We have two busy emergency departments with more than 346,000 people visiting them last year. We’re campaigning to secure the £35m we need to transform the A&E at Queen’s and get rid of corridor care.
We’re proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre, Radiotherapy Centre and Hyper Acute Stroke Unit. We’re also part of the North East London Cancer Alliance.
We run a Women’s Health Hub in Ilford; an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital and at St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub. These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The majority of our 8,400 staff – who come from 146 different countries - live in the three diverse London boroughs we serve and are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. Many can work flexibly and more than 400 of them are on our Ofsted accredited apprenticeship programmes. We’re proud to be a London Living Wage employer.
Some of the positive changes we’ve made are captured in this film.
