Job overview
The post holder will be a registered Occupational Therapist responsible for clients allocated to them and will work autonomously to assess, manage, plan and deliver care, including being professionally and legally accountable.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will work collaboratively with family/carers and all agencies involved in the child’s care encompassing all private and public sectors.
The post holder will support the specialist OT/PT community therapy team and be an effective team member whilst working autonomously.
The post holder will provide Occupational Therapy to children and young people 0-19 years old in a range of settings and environments e.g nursery, mainstream and special schools.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London
This post attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,714 and a maximum payment of £5,941 per annum pro rata).

- HCPC registered as an OT
- In process of HCPC registration
Desirable criteria
- RCOT registered with special interest with paediatrics
- RCOT registration only
Knowledge of child development
Essential criteria
- Basic knowledge of child development and its application to occupational therapy
- Basic knowledge of child development.
Desirable criteria
- Short courses in child development or paediatric OT more than 1 day course
- Short courses in child development or paediatric OT less then 1 day
Working with children
Essential criteria
- 3 months working as an OT in any setting
- Graduate with clinical placement experiences in community OT setting
Desirable criteria
- 3 months working as an OT with paediatric rotation
- Clinical placement in paediatric OT setting as a student
