Job overview
Main duties of the job
1. The post holder may be required to work at any of the Trust’s sites in line with service needs including the provision of cover where necessary.
2. The post holder must at all times carry out her/his responsibilities with due regard to the Trust’s Equal Opportunity Policy.
3. The post holder will be expected to be capable of assessing children referred to our service and seen in secondary clinics with appropriate training and support.
4. Job Limitations: at no time should the post holder work at a level outside their level of competence. Any concerns should be discussed immediately with the line manager. All staff have a responsibility to inform those supervising their duties, it they are not competent to perform a duty.
5. This is an outline job description and should not be regarded as an inflexible specification. Priorities may change in line with service needs and new duties introduced after consultation with the post holder.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. To undertake developmental assessments of preschool children as required and prepare reports.
2. To carry out other medical and neurodevelopmental assessments on primary and secondary school children where appropriate, including initial medicals for ADHD and ASD prior to referring to the ADHD and ASD Teams. To acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to conduct assessments for ASD and ADHD, as well as to manage ADHD and melatonin medication effectively.
3. To contribute to the reviews of children with complex needs, including transition arrangements, and to assist in the early identification of needs with liaison with appropriate agencies.
4. To participate in multidisciplinary and multiagency discussion and planning meetings. To participate in the multidisciplinary team and carry out multidisciplinary assessments as indicated.
