Job overview
The Estates Department is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Multi-Skilled Operative (Building) to join our dynamic team at West London NHS Trust.
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that the trust's estate is compliant, safe, and fit for purpose. You will play a crucial role in making sure that our buildings and infrastructure meet the Trust's current and future clinical and operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Repair and maintenance of the Hospital’s infrastructure and building fabric, fixtures and fittings.
- Carrying out reactive maintenance, routine planned maintenance and new work activities to building fabrics, fixtures and fittings, and related building works.
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, Trust standards, policies and procedures.
- Using post holder’s specific trade skills and knowledge, install, repair and maintain the Hospitals’ building fabric, fixtures and fittings, finishes and decorations.
- Carrying out cross trade works such as glazing, carpentry, joinery, painting and decorating, basic plumbing, waste blockages, and the installation of ligature prevention works.
- Attending training as necessary to undertake other building and civil engineering repairs and maintenance.
- Carry out first line investigations into all other general building elements.
- Escort contractors working within the secure perimeter of the Hospital
Main duties of the job
What we are looking for
- A recognised apprenticeship or other approved training scheme, plus relevant experience.
- Qualified to City & Guilds part II or minimum NVQ Level 2 or other recognised course at the appropriate level
- General experience of either Carpentry or building trade.
- Experience of working in commercial or public organisational estate service
- Significant experience across the Building trades
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.
- Able to communicate (verbally & written).
- Valid driving licence (manual & automatic)
Desirable:
- Health and safety training
NHS or public sector estates systems and compliance management experience.
