Pharmacy Technician
Band 5
West London NHS Trust provides a full range of mental health, community and physical healthcare services for children, adults and older people living in the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow.
We also provide some specialist services that are commissioned regionally, such as our medium secure services; and nationally, such as the Cassel Hospital for people with complex and severe personality disorder and our high secure services at Broadmoor Hospital.
Job overview
West London NHS Trust has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and patient-focused Pharmacy Technician to join the Integrated Care Pharmacy Team based at Clayponds Hospital. This varied role offers the chance to work across community hospital wards, community health services and clinics, supporting the delivery of high-quality medicines management and medicines optimisation services.
You will work closely with pharmacists, nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure patients receive safe, effective and timely access to their medicines. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills, a commitment to high standards of patient care and a passion for improving medicines use. In return, you will be supported in your professional development and have opportunities to further develop your clinical and technical skills within a friendly and progressive pharmacy team.
Main duties of the job
As part of the Integrated Care Pharmacy Team, you will provide patient-centred medicines management and medicines optimisation services across Clayponds Hospital and community health settings. You will support medicines reconciliation, patient counselling, medicines supply and discharge planning, helping to ensure safe and effective use of medicines.
The role includes working closely with multidisciplinary teams, undertaking medicines management visits to wards and community services, supporting stock management activities, participating in audits and quality improvement projects, and contributing to the delivery of a responsive pharmacy service. We are seeking a GPhC-registered Pharmacy Technician with excellent organisational and communication skills who can work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Accredited Checking Technician status and medicines management qualifications are desirable, although support will be available for further development.
