Digital Service End User Computer Engineer (EUC)

This vacancy has been advertised in accordance with the new NHS pay rate which will take effect from autumn 2024. Please note if your employment starts before the 24/25 pay scales are implemented you will be paid under the 23/24 pay scales and any backpay will be adjusted accordingly. The job holder is expected to not only undertake tasks assigned by the Digital End User Systems Manager but also in the course of their work to actively identify other tasks that need to be undertaken and ensure that these are either prioritised and actioned, or logged in the teams task lists and/or service desk system.

To provide 2nd\3rd line support, in collaboration with other members of the Digital Services team, for the Trusts ICT Infrastructure in order to ensure the integrity, availability, security and efficient use of all systems and applications. This job is primarily focused on the end user environment but covers the entire range of Digital infrastructure.
The post holder is expected to have good knowledge across a wide range of ICT infrastructure particularly end user devices, Windows desktops and tablets.

- Provide 1st and 2nd line support, focusing on but not limited to end user computing services
- Actively identify tasks that need to be undertaken and ensure that these are either prioritised and actioned, or logged in the teams task lists and/or service desk system.
- Build and deploy end user computing devices to whatever location is necessary, employing standard build profiles, following all defined process and policy to ensure compliance with all Digital Service Standards, meeting timescales required for each deployment.
- Test new standard builds, identifying and resolving all issues to ensure that these are operating effectively and securely
- Deploy software to end use computing devices, ensuring that this does not compromise the device in any way
- Ensure that end user computing devices are operating effectively and is appropriate to the function they fulfil and is performing to specification. This may include installing and configuring additional hardware or software, offering application support and connecting and installing printers.
- To contribute to the preparations for and monitoring of generator & power supply tests, specifically ensuring that servers are adequately protected against power surges, spikes and outages whatever their source;
- Participate in the Digital out-of-hours support rota. The out-of-hours support rota provides 24x7 infrastructure and applications support which may be through remote (from home) support provision or on-site support provision as determined by the Digital Services Management Team at any time. Staff will be assigned to the rota to meet service needs at any time and will be required to provide support for all Digital Services, not just their own speciality.
- If requested by Digital Services Management, work as an additional resource in other Digital Teams, especially the Digital Service Desk
