Job overview

We are looking to complete our hard-working, cohesive endoscopy team in Sutton. Having the opportunity to work in the newest built NHS hospital in London with the latest and state of the art endoscopy equipment, the successful candidate would also have the access to our training and development programme within endoscopy and additional formal education opportunities through the Royal Marsden School in Chelsea.

If you are an experienced endoscopy nurse that has a proven skills and competencies in doing pre-assessment, procedure room assisting and recovery post sedation and general anaesthetic of an endoscopy patient, including experience in shift coordination of a busy endoscopy unit, we would like to hear from you!

There is no better time to join the Endoscopy team in Sutton as exciting developmental opportunities to grow as a nurse within endoscopy with upcoming projects that the successful candidate would be a part of including the unit's JAG accreditation bid and expansion of new services. 

Main duties of the job

  • To work as a member of the endoscopy team. To be responsible for the care of patients attending the 
    Endoscopy Suite from pre-assessment through to discharge.
  • The post holder is expected to deliver a high standard of individualised patient care, and to be will required to develop competence in the management of patients undergoing endoscopic procedures the use of endoscopy equipment and accessories, including decontamination

2.1 Following the appropriate training, undertake comprehensive telephone pre-assessments, including 
appropriate action for warfarin and diabetes management
2.2 Ensuring that accurate information regarding the endoscopy procedure is given to the patient.
2.3 Following required training and completion of endoscopy specific competencies, take consent for 
specific procedures
2.4 To interpret and act upon blood results (with guidance from Charge nurse/senior staff nurse)
