Main duties of the job

The Royal Marsden Hospital is inviting applicants for a medical oncology clinical fellow.  This clinical post will involve working under supervision of the consultants within the medical oncology team based in Sutton in conjunction with the multidisciplinary teams to deliver services to patients, lead on innovative teaching programs, deliver quality improvement projects and initiate new clinical research. 

This is a fixed term 12 month post which is particularly suitable for a Doctor who seeks to enhance their knowledge and skills in complex Gynae, Renal and Melanoma cancer patients. Please see job description for more details and example job plan.

The post holder will have the opportunity to join the general medical oncology on-call SpR rota.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • MB BS, or equivalent
  • MRCP , or equivalent
  • Full GMC registration

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Broad based knowledge of and understanding of General Medicine and some oncology experience

Training Expected

Essential criteria
  • It is anticipated that the appointee will have completed CMT2 or equivalent in medicine
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in Oncology.
  • Previous chemotherapy prescribing experience

Management/Audit Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of clinical audit

Personal Skills

Essential criteria
  • Good presentational and verbal skills
  • Computer literacy/ IT skills appropriate to a clinical service using computerised record systems and electronic prescribing system (VARIS)
