ADHD Specialist NMP

This role will be split between the ADHD clinics that sit within Kingston CAMHS and Richmond CAMHS Tier 3 Teams. They are multidisciplinary teams specialising in the provision of high-quality assessments and evidence-based treatments for children, young people and their families presenting to the service with moderate to severe mental health problems and/or Neuropsychiatric difficulties.
We are looking for a committed CAMHS NMP who is passionate about working with children and young people with ADHD and interested in wider service development initiatives.
The role will be to provide a flexible, timely response to young people and their families who are accessing services for ADHD medication titration, GP Shared Care routine medication reviews, and psycho-social support for YP with ADHD and their families.
The role facilitates joint working with team consultants, non-medical prescribers and therapists from the tier 3 teams, local GP’s, and partnership agencies

Job Summary
To provide a high-quality specialist ADHD service to patients and their families across Kingston and Richmond. The post holder will be a prescriber for initiation, titration and ongoing management of ADHD treatment. As a band 8a ADHD NMP the post holder will:
· Support fellow non-medical prescribers and psychiatrists to deliver a highly specialist service for children and young people with ADHD and co-morbid mental health difficulties, contributing to specialist assessment & management and offering ADHD medication reviews.
· Exercise Independent prescribing rights using guidelines and protocols.
· Manage a caseload, providing the analysis of complex information to determine the planning and management of assessment and treatment to C&YP with ADHD and comorbid mental health and neuropsychiatric difficulties.
· Consult with medical colleagues, partner agencies and adult mental health professionals across a range of settings.
· Work autonomously within professional practice guidelines and Trust guidelines.
· Contribute to policy and service development, undertake research, service evaluation and audit for own team/service and to contribute to the training of the clinical team and others.
· Work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
·
· Participate in research and audit programmes both locally and nationally which pertain to evaluation of non-medical prescribing and the potential benefits to service users.

Kingston CAMHS is based in:
· Woodroffe House, Tolworth Hospital
To create the very best environment to care for our patients, this site’s layout will be transformed in 2026 to add a number of wards to the existing three. Tolworth has a canteen and is near shops, the A3, Tolworth station, and is a bus ride from Surbiton station, with fast connections to Clapham Junction and London Waterloo.
Richmond CAMHS is based in:
· Livingston House, Teddington
Our community hub is near shops, restaurants and stations in Teddington with trains to Richmond, Kingston, Clapham Junction, or Waterloo. This service will permanently re-locate to a new bespoke CAMHS building at Richmond Royal Hospital Spring/Summer 2025. Richmond Royal Hospital is in Richmond Town Centre. It is a 5-minute walk from Overground and South West Train routes.

Support a named Consultant Psychiatrist and the community CAMHS team by managing a delegated caseload of service users that have an established diagnosis and treatment plan for Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD).
Prescribe medication and undertake medication reviews for patients with ADHD, monitoring efficacy and side effects of treatment and adjusting or switching treatment if required
Develop on policies and procedures and assist in delivering the Trusts’ Medicines Optimisation Strategy with respect to CAMHS/ADHD
Ensure that pharmacological treatments used in CAMHS/ADHD are in line with national guidance, legislation and best- practice and ensure safe, effective and evidence-based use of medicines.
Attend and contribute to regular Non-Medical Prescribing (NMP) forums and share best practice
Undertake and support the consultant psychiatrist and clinical team with
innovation projects as required/appropriate,
Effectively communicate information about medicines optimisation, and plan and facilitate patient’s care between clinical staff, GPs and community pharmacists, and patients and carers.
Communicate effectively with other CAMHS and ADHD specialists to share best practice etc and present new developments and research via presentations to interested parties
Provide appropriate verbal and written information on all aspects of medicines optimisation to the CAMHS Directorate
To maintain close working links with members of the medicines management team in SWLSTG, GPs, the Integrated Care Systems (ICS), Acute Trusts etc.

- First level nursing qualification (registration RMN or RCN or HV, or pharmacist) / with related CAMHS experience and MSc level qualification or equivalent with evidence of a comprehensive portfolio of post registration
- Professional development in child and adolescent mental health including evidence of clinical, audit and/or research presentations at local and national CAMHS events and evidence of publication of articles or the production of strategic reports which have advanced CAMHS
- All applications will require professional registration with a statutory body e.g., the Nursing Midwifery Council, General Social care council, Health professional's council or applicable psychological or psychotherapies body
- Non-medical prescriber with appropriate professional registration
- Formal training in supervision

EXPERIENCE

- • MSc qualification related to the clinical area or equivalent with evidence of a comprehensive portfolio including experience of specialist mental health assessment and treatment with children and young people with mental health difficulties, emotional, behavioural, and relational problems, and their families, including looked after children.
- • Minimum of 12 months experience working as a non-medical prescriber with a relevant service
- • Experience of working with children and young people with ADHD
- • Experience of managing complex and high-risk cases
- • Experience of consultation to, and clinical supervision of, other staff.
- • Experience of providing teaching and training to multidisciplinary groups
- • Experience of working with children and families from diverse cultural backgrounds
- • Experience of developing and carrying out research projects with children and young people
- • Experience of supervision of other staff
- • Experience of clinical leadership and providing clinical support for practitioners across disciplines including recruitment, supervision, and appraisal.
