Job overview
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated team manager to join our specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service. The post holder will work alongside another full-time team manager to oversee the service which is comprised of the Perinatal Mental Health Team and the Perinatal Trauma and Loss Service.
The service is based at Springfield Hospital but covers the five South West London boroughs and operates by borough based sub-teams. The team comprises of psychiatrists, clinical nurse specialists, occupational therapists, social workers, nursery nurses, psychologists, psychotherapists and peer support workers. We are a passionate and specialist service dedicated to providing high quality care to women and birthing people and their families throughout the perinatal period.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity to join and contribute to the development of an expanding and highly-functioning service. We are looking for applicants with experience of working in perinatal mental health or with a keen interest in this area and who have managerial experience and skills.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
- Overall managerial oversight of the service, its operationality and day to day functioning
- Alongside the other team manager, hold full managerial responsibility for staff members within the service; providing managerial and clinical supervision, managing sickness and absence, ensuring compliance with all trust policies and procedures
- Alongside the Clinical Service Lead, oversee the performance management of the service
- Alongside the lead administrator, manage and supervise the administrative functions of the service
- Work closely and collaboratively with all disciplines within the service
- Promote the trust values

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
• To provide effective day-to-day management of Perinatal Mental Health Team in accordance with the Operational Policy.
• To ensure the day to day management of the team to achieve performance standards of the team are adhered to and regular performance information is provided.
• The Team Manager has an internal role in terms of co-ordinating the functioning of the team and external role in terms of contacts with users and carers, other agencies, and representing the team externally.
• To provide effective professional supervision to some qualified members of the team and management supervision to other members of the team.
• To manage and develop a responsive community mental health and social care service to meet the needs of the local population. To deputise for the clinical lead/manager in his/her absence.

Training & Qualifications
Essential criteria
- • Registered mental health practitioner.
- • Current and full UK drivers license
- • Evidence of continuing professional and personal development
- • Educated to degree level in a health or social care discipline and registered with recognised professional body
Desirable criteria
- • Professional management qualification at diploma level or above
- • Project Management qualification e.g. PRINCE2 foundation level
Experience
Essential criteria
- • Experience of working at a Band 6 level
- • Experience of managing and supervising staff
- • Experience of case assessment, care management, Risk Assessment
- • Experience of multi-disciplinary working as part of a team to include experience of leading multidisciplinary groups
- • Experience of working in a mental health setting and in the community
- • Experience of working with people who experience serious ongoing mental health problems
- • Demonstrable experience of working in a health or social care management role
Desirable criteria
- • Experience of project development and management
- • Experience of chairing meetings
- • Experience of deputising
- • Experience of managing budgets
- • Experience of working as Duty Senior Nurse
