Senior Clinical Fellow ENT Otology- October 2026

Senior Clinical Fellow

St. George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the regional specialist care provider for south west London, Surrey and beyond. The trust provides a high quality, comprehensive range of health services from leading edge tertiary and trauma care to community services.

With national and regional referrals added to our local 3.5m catchment, we serve a population of around 5m.

Co-located with St George’s, University of London and with both organisations now in a formal strategic alliance with King’s Health Partners, the trust delivers with its partners high quality research and education both of which contribute to the healthcare provision of tomorrow.

Acute and tertiary health services are delivered from over 1,000 beds across two sites, by around 8,000 staff.

St. George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a major acute hospital that offers very specialist care for complex injuries and illnesses, including trauma, neurology, cardiac care, renal transplantation, cancer care and stroke. It has a helipad which opened in spring 2014 and the work of its emergency department can currently be seen on Channel 4’s ‘24 Hours in A&E’ programme. The hospital also provides all the usual care you would expect from a local NHS district general hospital.

We also provide services at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Roehampton. These include outpatient rapid diagnostic and treatment facilities, a minor injuries unit, limb fitting services and 70 elderly, intermediate care and rehabilitation beds.

As well as hospital services, we provide a wide variety of specialist, maternity and community services to children, adults, older people and people with learning disabilities. These services are provided from St John’s Therapy Centre, 11 health centres and clinics, schools, nursing homes and people’s own homes. The trust also manages the healthcare service at HMP Wandsworth.

The post also involves training in lateral skull base surgery including but not limited to the management of acoustic neuromas. This experience is in conjunction with the neuro-surgical department. Relevant post-operative management of these patients is an essential part of this post. The successful individual will participate in regular MDT meetings in both implantation otology and skull base surgery. These include radiological reviews of relevant imaging.

This Fellowship to start in October 2026

Main duties of the job

St George's Hospital is the main teaching hospital in the western sector of the South Thames, and as such has developed links with most district general hospitals throughout the South Thames West, and supports a significant training programme for junior doctors who rotate through the Trust

St. George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s largest healthcare organisations and has now integrated with Community Services Wandsworth. The Trust shares its main hospital site in south west London with St George’s University of London, and is linked to Kingston Faculty of Health and Social Care Sciences. St George’s has an established national and international reputation as a leading hospital for specialist care including neurosciences, cardiac care, stroke and cancer. We also provide excellent local care to the residents of Wandsworth, and regional care as both an acute, hyper acute stroke unit and trauma centre.

Working for our organisation

St George's Hospital shares its site in Tooting with St George's Medical School and Faculty of Healthcare Sciences. The Medical School is one of the medical schools of the University of London and admits 160 students for the five year course. The curriculum has recently been restructured to conform to revised GMC requirements. There is a course of study for the Uniting Examining Board and Accelerated Graduate Entry Course. St George's is the only medical school in the area encompassing the former South Thames West Region and has formal link with the Epsom and St Helier Trust for the training of undergraduates and postgraduate students.

The otolaryngology service has been successfully configured on the 'hub and spoke' model and following its work as an 'Action on ENT' Pilot site has been developed into a formal network. The Service is centered at St George's where complex surgery is carried out. Day surgery is performed at a number of partner hospitals- Kingston (KH), Epsom, St Helier (E/SH) and the Mayday (MH)- fed through outpatient services at these hospitals. St George's also provides the emergency cover for these hospitals.
