Job overview
This exciting fellowship offer opportunity for experienced intensive care doctors with anaesthetic experience of at least 4 years to broaden their skills in ICU.
The successful clinical fellow should be highly motivated and participate in quality improvement projects, teaching and research, with a view to both local and national presentations.
Applicants should be registered with the GMC and must be Post-Graduate Year 5 or higher. Candidates should have at least 4 years of anaesthetic / airway experience.
Main duties of the job
The post holders will take part in a 1 in 8 full shift rota, covering intensive care and referrals from wards, supporting outreach team. The post holder will lead a team of resident doctors.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
• The post holders will take part in a 1 in 8 full shift rota
-daytime he/she will be in charge of the unit, responsible to do morning and evening ward rounds with the ICU consultant. A second registrar will be holding the emergency bleep and take referrals from the wards, emergency department, outreach team and the other hospitals in the NWL Critical Care Network
- Night time together with another resident doctor will cover the unit and referrals. All admissions and all patients who are denied access to critical care have to be discussed with the on-call consultant. If you are called more than 2 times about the same patient please discuss it with the on-call consultant. On call consultant is available for phone advice out of hours and will attend in 30 min if needed.
• Day Time sessions will be in ITU/Operating theatres and/or obstetrics depending on the interests of the candidate and the needs of the Department. Most of the sessions will be under a direct supervision of a consultant.
• He/she must have a thorough up-to-date knowledge of resuscitation techniques and undertake to update these yearly. He/she will be encouraged to update their knowledge and skills regularly by attending appropriate courses/meetings.

Essential criteria
- MB BS or equivalent
- GMC Registration
- Current Advanced Life Support
Desirable criteria
- Ultrasound Training qualification FICE or similar
- FRCA, EDIC, FFICM or equivalent
- Bronchoscopy course
Experience
Essential criteria
- Proven relevant experience in anaesthesia and critical care of at least 48 months
- Worked at least 24 months at registrar level
